5 April 2014 ~ We are very sorry to have to update this page with the sad news that little Peggy has passed away :-( She was extremely poorly with no real hope of recovering and after staying several nights at the vet, with visits home when possible, the difficult decision was made to let her go. Run free at the Bridge, Peggy. Our thoughts are with Peggy’s foster family, who love her very much and took such great care of her for us, during her time with Oldies Club. Sleep tight, beautiful girl, you’ll be missed so much.

We don’t know much about Peggy’s background – she came to Oldies Club via a council pound – but at her foster home she doesn’t like to be left on her own and can become very distressed if she is left even for a relatively short time. She loves human attention, but can be quite picky about other dogs so needs quite a special home where she will be the only dog and can have her people around most of the time, or go out and about with them.

Because she needs such a special home, Oldies Club were delighted when Peggy’s foster carer decided she would like to keep her. Another move to a new home would be very hard on her, even if we could find someone with the experience and patience Peggy needs. Oldies Club will pay all Peggy’s vet bills. If you would like to help out, please sponsor her!

Peggy is about 12 years old and she’s thought by her foster carer to be a Patterdale x Dachshund — what we can say for sure is that she’s some sort of Terrier X.

Well-behaved on walks: Peggy walks very nicely on the lead. Peggy enjoys her walks and will happily walk for a mile or more.

Peggy’s favourite pastimes: Playing ball; Eating; Walks; Sleeping in the sun.

Health notes: Peggy is in good condition for her age, but is deaf. Her teeth are ground down, possibly from trying to chew her way out of a crate to be near her people.

Foster carer’s summary of Peggy:A gentle, placid girl. She is a dear little dog who just needs someone to be there for her. There are signs that there could be a playful side waiting to come out…
