2 August 2015: We are sorry to have to update this page to let you know that little Maisie passed away yesterday, after a short illness. Our thoughts are with her wonderful foster family, who love her very much and took such great care of her for Oldies Club. Sleep tight, little Maisie.

We have had a charming little update on Maisie aka “The Strawberry Thief”!

Yum Yum lovely strawberries!
We can see you!

Maisie is doing well and thriving in the heat – little bit of lying in the sun, little bit of lying on the cool tiles by the fan, bit more sun ….. Then a quick nip off to see if there’s any more ripe strawberries [please note the blurred paw showing rapid harvesting when she sniffs out a ripe one). Funny thing is, she only likes them self picked, not a bit interested when already picked by mum… :)

Maisie is definitely every bit as sweet as those strawberries were!
—————————————-

Maisie is a tiny little 12 year old Yorkie who is going to stay in Oldies Club care as a sponsor dog due to several different health issues that she has to contend with. She is described as a tiny dog with a huge personality and is making the most of life in spite of her health issues.

——————————————————————————————————————————————

When Maisie arrived in Oldies Club care she was underweight but after settling in to her foster home she started putting weight on and reached just under 1.5kg in early January, which is about right for her size and frame.  She is a very special little lady who has several health problems, which she is overcoming and enjoying life as much as possible.

Maisie is blind, deaf and has wonky back kneecaps.  None of these things seem to bother her awfully as she has teamed up with the resident Yorkie in her foster home and together they get up to all kinds of mischief, safe in the knowledge that they didn’t hear anyone say they mustn’t……   :)

Maisie has also had a problem with fits.  The cause is not known, but when it happens she turns from a bright, inquisitive and outgoing little girl into a quiet, subdued little mite, with little interest in anything other than snuggling up to her doggie friend or her foster mum.   For this reason it is best that Maisie stays in her foster home where she feels safe and in surroundings that she knows.  When she is feeling fit she enjoys herself and thanks to her foster family she knows she will be very well cared for when she is poorly.  Her fosterers say that they consider themselves very lucky to be able to live with Maisie, the tiny dog with a huge personality :)

If you would love to offer a home to an oldie but your circumstances aren’t suitable, perhaps you would be kind enough to sponsor Maisie or one of the other special oldies we are caring for in our sponsor dog scheme.
