Donna - White Lodge Longdogs

7/6/2006 – After a very happy last 18 months at White Lodge, Donna has sadly had to be put to sleep after being diagnosed with a tumour and renal failure.

Following her retirement from racing 6 years ago, she was rehomed with an elderly lady who never walked her and never took her to a vet. She remained in this home until December last year, when her owner died. Donna arrived at White Lodge in a bad way – she had wasted muscles and extensive tooth decay. She had major dental work and was vaccinated and neutered and then placed in a foster home.

Sadly Donna is a bit senile and therefore prone to ‘batty’ moments. She has failed in two foster homes, because she barks at the other dogs. There is no aggression, it’s just Donnas way of saying “I’m here”. Unfortunately the other dogs haven’t felt the same way, and Donna was becoming a bit of a victim to the other dogs’ annoyance and on one occasion was bitten quite badly.

Donna also needs a loo break overnight most nights, but is generally clean in the house. She also barks at walls, the sky and for the fun of it!

We are desperately looking for someone kind and brave enough to take Donna on as a foster dog. She needs a calm, cat-free, dog-free, small-child free home where she can spend her twilight years in a peaceful and caring environment. She needs to be rehomed within ravelling distance of Sileby (between Loughborough and Leicester) as we would like to continue using our own vet. We will meet all veterinary expenditure for Donna.

A deaf, childless, petless, insomniac living in a detached house would be perfect!!

If anyone thinks they can offer Donna the companionship she needs in her twilight years, please contact Gary or Claire on 01664 812 361.
