Obie – formerly Jake

Handsome chocolate collie cross Obie was a simply delightful dog. An active retiree, full of life and fun, he was a cheerful, happy boy who was extremely tolerant with dogs of all ages and sizes.

Obie was probably around 10-12 years of age when he came to District Dogs Rescue, Warrington, earlier this year.

He was homed to a kind new owner, but she found he cried at night and wouldn’t settle, so Jake made the move to Lizzie’s Barn and became known as Obie.

Obie was great with other dogs – he was happy to play and cuddle with the shy 4 month old puppy who came down to Lizzie’s Barn Animal Sanctuary in the same transport as him – he really was a kind, sweet-natured boy.

In June 2005, a vet check revealed that Obie was in the early stages of a heart condition, and he began treatment for the problem but, on 5th June 2005, Obie sadly passed away, peacefully in his sleep.

Such a friendly, affectionate dog will be missed by everyone who knew him – sadder still is the fact that he never found the loving new home he was looking for.
