20/11/08 Cole has a home!

—–

Cole is a 15 year old cat and, although he arrived at AARU in a very sorry state, he has turned out to be a merry old soul indeed! He’s not a cute, fluffy kitten anymore (he’s a cute, fluffy old boy instead), but instead of passing such a lovely old chap by, why not read about him and see if you could give this wonderful boy a happy home?

Here’s what Cole’s fosterer has said about him:

“When Cole came to us he was a little the worse for wear. At least 50% of his fur was shaved off and the rest had some clumps in there. While
he has been with us he has flourished, his long ginger and white coat is starting to return and most of the knots are now brushed out.

For an older cat (around 15), he is very lively and extremely affectionate. If you sit for longer than 5 minutes, he is on your lap. He is a bit of a cheeky chap and will eat almost anything. If there are other cats in the house he will eat his own dinner then go on to theirs. I have caught him the odd time on my kitchen table (not the worktops, though) and it’s hard to tell him off when he looks up at you with those big green eyes.

Cole gets on fine with my other cat. I can’t say that they cuddle up, and they do have the odd hissing contest and play-fight like all cats, but they spend most of the day together and I haven’t had any problems.

Cole is litter trained but I believe that he longs to be outside as he spends a lot of time looking out of the patio doors, so would do probably be happy to do his business out there.

He is a big softy and loves to snuggle up on the sofa and the windowsill; another favorite place of his is at the top of the stairs.

I think Cole would benefit from a loving home with access to a garden where he can roam around without a main road too close as he’s not the quickest on his feet. He gets along with other cats, unsure about other animals. I think Cole would like any type of family but maybe not young children as they may be too rough with him. I think it would be fine for a full-time employed person to take him but it would be nice if someone was with him most of the time, with him being so affectionate.”

Cole is about to have his teeth cleaned and sorted out and will be undergoing a procedure to remove his thyroid gland – as it is currently overactive. Other than that, he seems as fit as a fiddle! AARU hope to find him a loving new home where he can go to live once he has recovered from his operation.

It can take a long time to find a home for a 15 year old cat as, very sadly, most people won’t even give them a chance. Please don’t pass Cole by.
