9/4/2010 Sad news from Amy’s foster family. Her health has recently deteriorated and today she had to be put to sleep. Amy had a very special foster family who showered her with love and affection and they will miss her dearly. Sleep tight Amy :(

Adorable Amy came into Oldies Club care with her friend Dylan. She’s a 13 year old Cocker Spaniel and is currently in foster care in Rochester, Kent.

Amy had a swollen tummy when she first arrived and she seemed to be constantly hungry, so she went for a vet check and had blood tests and a scan. Unfortunately, this showed up an inoperable tumour on her liver and Amy now requires medication to support her liver function and weekly vet checks.

Amy is going to stay with her fosterers for whatever time she has left and they will make each day very special for her. They tell us that she’s a real lap dog and loves human company. She gets up very early every day and likes to go out into the garden for a little bark to let the neighbourhood know she’s up!

Amy’s favourite food is chicken and her foster carers are more than happy to cook it for her. She has them well trained and they devote a lot of their time to her wants and needs.

Amy caused some concern a short while ago as she became very ill and had to be rushed off to the vets. Everyone feared the worst, but after a steroid injection Amy was soon back to normal and the next day she was running up and down the garden!

Oldies Club will fund Amy’s ongoing treatment, so if you’d like to help care for her please consider taking part in our sponsor scheme.
