22nd August 2011. We have just received a very sad message from Ozzie’s owner.
“I just wanted to let you know that very sadly we had to put Ozzie to sleep last week. He had been slowing down since Christmas but in the last week he went downhill very quickly, he was struggling to stand and lost his appetite which wasn’t at all like him! Our vet thought it was kidney or liver failure and in the end we thought it best not to let him suffer. We miss our beautiful big boy very much and are just grateful to the Oldies website for bringing him to us for a happy 18 months. Here are two pictures of him we took earlier in the summer having a stroll in his favourite park and a waiting patiently for a treat, along with Lucy. We were trying to get them to pose but they were more interested in the food!”
Run free, Ozzie. You were much loved and will never be forgotten.

A year ago, Ozzie was alone on the streets of Ireland. This year he’s just had a wonderful Christmas with his loving family. Here’s what they have to say about him.
“We can’t believe we’ve had Ozzie for nearly a year now, he settled in so quickly that it always seemed he was part of our family. He is very good natured and is happiest curled up on the couch with his head on your lap or lying in his bed beneath the radiator. We don’t know how he survived life on the streets in Ireland considering he is so laid back and docile. When he came to us you could still see the scars on his neck and shoulders where he was attacked by another dog but his hair quickly grew back you’d have no idea now he was mistreated at some point in his life.
Soon after we got him we realised he is almost totally deaf and doesn’t see very well in the dark, but that doesn’t stop him from keeping up with our other dog Lucy, also a rescue, on walks or having his moments of goofy puppy behaviour. He loves his food and treats and if we leave the dishwasher open while we’re loading it, he will help by ‘pre-washing’ the plates. We can’t remember what life was like before we had him!”
It seems as though Ozzie is having a wonderful life with his new family. We’re looking forward to hearing about him from time to time.
