14 May 2013: We are very sorry to have to update Tag’s page with the news that this beautiful girl has very sadly passed away. Tag was a very special girl and our thoughts are with her wonderful foster family, who welcomed her into their hearts and home and are missing her greatly. Sleep tight, beautiful Tag, to be remembered always.
Tag came to the Oldies Club from a very loving home. Because of ill health in the family, they had to make the decision to find a loving new home for Tag. It was a hard thing for them to have to face but they decided that Tag’s interests were all important and that this was best for her.
When she arrived in her Oldies Club foster home, her long coat was a bit matted and in need of some attention so it was a trip to the groomers for Tag. When she returned, she looked beautiful as you can see.

She settled into her foster family really quickly. Tag is a real people lover and seemed to be a happy, normal dog. However, they then discovered a little lump on her shoulder. At the vet’s. Tag was thoroughly examined and had a chest Xray. She was found to have two more lumps in her groin area. Two days later she had surgery to remove these and samples were sent away for analysis while her fosterers and everyone at the Oldies Club crossed all their fingers and waited.
The news was mixed. Two of the lumps were cancerous and had a medium risk of returning at some point, but the good news was the chest xray was clear so nothing had spread. It was decided at this point that Tag could not be re homed as she had a shortened life expectancy. The foster family had junior school age children and felt it would be upsetting to see Tag through to the end so took the difficult decision to allow her to go to another fosterer as a sponsor dog.
It takes a special kind of someone to take a sponsor dog like Tag because as beautiful as she is, it is an unselfish act to take on a dog who you know will only be with you for a short time. Tag’s new fosterer is a very special lady who had already adopted the lovely Gentle Joe from Oldies Club. She’d seen Tag’s details on the Coming Soon section of our website and had mentioned to one of our committee she might be interested in adopting her as a friend for Joe. When she was told the news that Tag was sadly to become a sponsor dog she still remained keen to give her a home, so arrangements were made and Tag arrived. She settled in well with Joe and the resident cats and still enjoys a short walk and her food

This arrangement has allowed Tag to spend those special twilight days she has left in a warm and cosy home receiving all the tlc she can handle. We wish them all the best for a happy time together for as long as possible.
If you’ve been touched by Tag’s story, you could become involved and help us to care for her by taking part in our sponsor scheme
