2 December 2016 ~ We are very sorry to have to update Patch’s page with the sad news that our dear boy has passed away :-(. Our thoughts are with his foster family, who gave him the most wonderful, loving home for his time with Oldies Club. Sleep tight lovely boy x
Patch is 14 years old and had lived with his owner from when he was a tiny pup. He came to the Oldies Club after his elderly owner sadly didn’t return from hospital.
Patch’s owner had been too unwell to look after him for some time so the poor lad was in a bit of a state when he arrived. He was whisked off to the vet who found he had infections in eyes and ears, cataracts in both eyes, very weak muscles in his hind legs, big bald patches on his back and chest – and a severe heart condition.
Wearing his Thundershirt to help with anxiety
Patch came back home with his carrier bagful of medicines and treatments and it soon became apparent that, after living so long as an only dog with the constant company of his incapacitated owner, he suffered from dreadful separation anxiety and got very unhappy and stressed if not physically close to a human being.

Despite all this, Patch is a loving, happy little soul who enjoys pottering round his fosterer’s garden and overseeing things are done correctly: he usually does this by lying on the task in hand be it sorting the washing or pruning the fruit bushes. He enjoys the canine company he has, and has such a kind and gentle nature.
Patch is much loved by his fosterers – even when in Patch-the-Snatch mode. He does love food – anybody’s food – and if people are careless enough to leave edibles within his rather extensive reach …..
Patch enjoys exploring his lovely garden :-)
If you would love to offer a home to an oldie but your circumstances aren’t suitable, perhaps you would be kind enough to sponsor Patch, or one of the other special oldies we are caring for in our sponsor dog scheme.
