10/9/18 – Bonnie found a home
———–

Bonnie is a pretty 13 year old Cairn Terrier x Jack Russell Terrier girl who wears a beautiful chocolate-brown coat! She is only a small girl and is in the care of the Ark Animal Rescue and Retirement Home. The Ark are hoping to find Bonnie a permanent home, but as she has Cushings, which requires expensive ongoing medication, they will also consider offers of a long-term foster home, if it’s local enough to use the Ark‘s own vet. She needs easy access to a garden, especially straight after she wakes up from a nap. Bless her!

If you are interested in Bonnie, you will need to phone the Ark to make an appointment to see her.

Bonnie arrived at the Ark with her friend Tiff but their owner said it was OK to rehome them separately to give them a better chance of finding a home quickly. Tiff has been adopted already and Bonnie thought she’d found her happy retirement home too, but sadly the adopter suddenly had caring commitments with elderly relatives and couldn’t give Bonnie the time she deserves.

Bonnie is a friendly, cuddly dog who likes nothing more than sitting on your knee. She used to sleep on her owner’s bed at night. She’s not used to living with children but has met them and is better with older children rather than young ones. She lived with cats about 10 years ago and was fine but recently, she’s started chasing them. She will back down if a cat stands its ground though. She was used to living with Tiff but if she feels insecure, she can be offish with other dogs she doesn’t know.

Bonnie is a very sweet-natured girl. She enjoys being bathed and brushed and is fine at the vets, if a little nervous. She would be unhappy if she had to stay in boarding kennels and her other dislike is fireworks.

Bonnie is house-trained but must be able to go out as soon as she needs to, which is more often nowadays. She travels well on the back seat of the car. On walks she is good on and off the lead and she has good recall. She loves playing.

Bonnie hasn’t yet been spayed but her vaccinations are up to date. She has Cushing’s disease and is on Vetoryl daily and will need to have regular blood tests to check that she is on the correct dosage. The Ark are happy to discuss the possibility of a long-term foster arrangement if continued support will help Bonnie find her happy home.
