Shelly is just the cutest little Dachshund/Terrier cross girly in the world! She is a young oldie at 7 and is being helped out in her search for a new home by Starfish Dog Rescue. They rehomed her two years ago to a lovely man, who sadly died. Little Shelly stayed by his side for 3 days until he was found. It must have been so traumatic for her. She needs some new people to come along and help mend her broken heart.
Shelly is now being fostered in a family home with 4 other dogs and a cat. She was nervous coming back into rescue and into her foster home, but within 24 hours she was settled in. Her former dad did wonders turning this little dog around!
Shelly was originally found wandering the streets of Spain. The poor thing was absolutely terrified when she was found. She had obviously been abused and she was so scared of new people. When she came to the UK she wouldn’t even move from the sofa for 3 days. Her dad worked so hard with her and with his love and patience, Shelly is now a totally different dog – the sweetest and most loving little companion you could ever want.
Shelly bonds closely with others. If you are the person for her, you will have a loving little friend for life. She is currently very bonded to her foster mum and is such a loving little girl with her. She loves her walks and is good off the lead and never goes far. She has a little excess weight at the moment which the walks and playing with other dogs should help should help her lose. Shelly gets along well with the other dogs and is even starting to play with one of the little ones.
Here are some videos of this super special girl!
On the sofa, Shelly belly wagging her little tail like crazy!
On a walk with one of her friends – look at her go!
Running about in the fields with her doggy friends
Since Shelly seems to bond closely with a single person she would do best in a home with either a single person or a couple. She will probably be a little nervous at first and will need lots of love and reassurance to learn to be comfortable. She is a quiet, sensitive little girl who is very easy to live with. She is learning to get better riding in the car and walks well both on and off lead as you can see from her videos above. She likes to sleep beside her foster mummy in her bed at night!
Shelly is a real star and anyone who adopts her will have a best friend for life. If she is the one for you, please contact Starfish Dog Rescue as follows:
