Adorable Bertie is a medium-sized Spaniel Cross aged around 8 years and he is a very special boy who needs a very special owner because he is disabled. He has been a Safe Rescue dog for a few years but disappeared and was missing for 2 years.

Recently, the Rescue was contacted by a vet some 200 miles away to advise that he had been brought in injured as a stray. Since then, he has been in a foster home in Kings Lynn, Norfolk (FR026), building up his strength and learning to use a dog-wheelchair that supports his back-end and allows him to enjoy walks and adventures outdoors. Though his disability doesn’t seem to trouble him at all, he does need someone who can lift him when necessary, as well as somewhere to walk that is accessible on his wheels.

Bertie is a funny and strong-minded little chap who is shy at first but very affectionate once he knows that you are his person. He is currently happily living with other dogs and cats in a busy house. Since finding a warm place and a soft bed, he is happiest when he is snuggled up on the sofa next to his person, pawing for more attention if you stop stroking him. If it is raining or a bit chilly, he needs to be carried into the garden as he refuses to go out!

In the house, Bertie moves around freely, dragging his back feet. He is even able to climb the stairs. He has complete control of his bladder but does not always have full control of his bowels, especially when he is scared or excited. He is vaccinated, microchipped and neutered.
