28/08/19 – Wellington has been adopted! Hooray!
Dear old Wellington is a medium sized Schnauzer of about 10 years in the care of Stokenchuch Dog Rescue in Buckinghamshire. He is adorable but he does fret. A lot. He needs a settled, quiet home with company most of the time and a total absence of other dogs. He can’t live with cats either but it’s dogs that he’s certain must be out to get him. When these two conditions are met, he’s a happy chappy and loves to play!

As well as playing with his toys, Welly loves love! He’s always glad of attention and fuss. He’ll be happy just being in your company when you’re busy. No doubt being close at hand to help with whatever you’re doing!
Sadly, because Welly finds other dogs terrifying, he finds kennel life incredibly stressful and it’s hard for prospective adopters to see past that fear to the sweet boy he really is. He just needs calm, confident owners with experience of very nervous dogs. It’s thought he could live with children from age 12 but they’d have to be considerate, dog savvy ones. A secure garden is a must for Welly too.

On walks, Welly really doesn’t want to meet other dogs. He needs to be walked in quiet areas and he’s muzzle trained just to be absolutely sure everyone stays safe. It’s a shame the muzzle makes this cutie boy reminiscent of Hannibal Lecter but at least it warns other dog owners that he’d rather not be greeted, thank you very much.
Welly is a loving and amusing companion when he’s relaxed. With a steady routine and nicely predictable life and, most importantly, calm owners who will always be there to protect him, he’ll find the happiness he truly deserves.
