26/1/20 – Little Lily has gone off to her new home!
——————

Lily is a 12-year-old West Highland Terrier lady who came into the Oldies Club rescue because her owner’s circumstances changed meaning that Lily was left for very long hours. She is in an Oldies Club foster home in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire.

Settled well in foster care: Lily took about a week to settle in at her foster home.

Can be left for a few hours: Lily is OK to be left for a few hours, and she is crate trained, but she does love human company and cuddles so she wouldn’t suit a working household.

Needs to be your only dog: Lily is fine when meeting other dogs, but she needs to be the only pet at home as she feels jealous about food and affection.

Not used to cats: Lily needs a home without cats.

Fine with older children: Lily would be best in a home where any children are aged 12 years plus, purely because in her excitement she can be a little over boisterous, and she loves treats so much that she might mistake fingers for sausages.

Enjoys a walk and an outing: Lily is good on the lead and only pulls a little sometimes. She would probably be OK to be let off lead in a safe space. She is happy with a 20-minute walk each day but she wouldn’t complain about having extra outings.

Good in the car: Lily is a good traveller. She recently went camping with her foster family and she did really well on the 2 hour journey.

Lily’s favourite pastimes: Snuggling with you; relaxing in her special place where she goes to have some me-time and just watch what’s going on; plus food, walkies and trips out.

Lily’s dislikes: She doesn’t like other dogs encroaching on her space when in the house. She coped with the recent fireworks very well.

Lily’s ideal home: A home where she is your only dog and is allowed on the sofa with you. She wants lots of fuss and attention so wants her people around a lot of the time. She enjoys the odd game of fetch for 5 minutes, but she doesn’t bring it back to you.

Health notes: Lily is vaccinated and microchipped and has been wormed and flea treated. She has had a dental too so has nice clean teeth. She has recently had a season so will need to be spayed in January – Oldies Club will cover the cost of the spay. Lily has slight arthritis in her back legs but no medication is needed yet.

More from Lily’s foster carer:Lily is cuddly, enthusiastic, loyal and well-behaved. Lovely Lily’s only issue is around sharing with other dogs, so if she has you all to herself she will be a great companion.”

If you would love to offer a home to an oldie but your circumstances aren’t suitable, perhaps you would be kind enough to sponsor one of the special oldies we are caring for that, due to health problems, are unlikely to be offered a permanent home.
