10/5/2021 – Lovely Gino has been adopted by one of Greyhound Trust Nottingham’s volunteers!
————————-
Gentle, laid-back Gino is a 9 year old Greyhound boy who has only ever lived in kennels! He’s in the care of the Nottingham branch of Greyhound Trust who help retirees like him find loving homes at last.
Greyhounds make wonderful pets because they’re low-maintenance yet super loving. The uninitiated are often surprised that they don’t need a whole lot of exercise. A bit of a zoomies is required but then they tend to be happy to lounge about most of the time. The nicest thing about them, apart from how beautiful they are, is their typically calm and even temperament. They’re just such lovely dogs have around!
Gino has had a very restricted experience of the world but he naturally takes new things in his elegant stride. He was fascinated by a duck he met on one walk but he wasn’t scared or wanting to chase it. He just wanted to work out what it was! He gets on well with other Greyhounds but he’ll need cautious introductions to other breeds of dog so he can gradually realise that they are in fact dogs, even though they seem to be the wrong shape and size. His world is full of new wonders like that!
Gino likes to play and he’ll need a garden to have a 5 minute dash about when the mood takes him. Apart from that, all he needs is the love of a good human or two who will show him what a proper pet dog’s life is all about, preferably starting with how nice sofas are… because he’s never had one!
