29/8/20 – Pepsi has been adopted!

Pepsi is a lovely 8-year-old Dachshund Mix who is with Stokenchurch Dog Rescue through no fault of her own, bless her.
Pepsi is a sweet and loving girl who is very friendly and affectionate. Pepsi is blind and so takes a little while to recognise new surroundings and people, but once she has everything figured out and her little maps fixed in her mind, she gets around very well indeed.
Pepsi could live with a calm dog who isn’t too interested in playing, subject to successful introductions, and with kind children aged 11+. Due to her being blind, Pepsi would like her prospective adopters to visit her a few times for her to get to know them before going home. She hasn’t been tested with cats.
Pepsi enjoys having an explore in enclosed areas. She likes to know where her carers are and will bark to let them know if she thinks she’s lost them. She will happily return back for some fuss or a tasty treat. Pepsi will obviously need to be well looked after when out and about and should only be let off lead in safe places where she feels secure that she knows where you are and can’t get lost or injured.
At present Pepsi appears to only know ‘sit’ but she will be happy to have more training for lovely treats, which she does enjoy. Positive reward-based training will also help new owners to build up a bond with Pepsi.
Pepsi is calm, if a little cautious, when first approaching a dog, but will happily say hello in a friendly manner. Once she has said hello she is then happy to wander off and continue exploring.
Pepsi has diabetes and requires daily insulin injections, morning and night. Her new owners will need to be confident about doing this, and be prepared for the extra costs involved. This obviously isn’t something that everyone will be comfortable with, but we hope that amongst the lovely people that use the Oldies Club website, there will be a special family who will be happy to give Pepsi all the love and care that she needs.
If you could you offer Pepsi an experienced home and give her time to settle in, plus the medical care that she needs, Pepsi will make a very affectionate and wonderful addition to your home and repay your kindness many times over.
