28/06/21 – Sadly we have to announce Sponsor Dog ChockDee aka Big C has sadly passed away. She was diagnosed with a neurological problem and was sadly deteriorating quickly. After a weekend of being spoilt she went peacefully in her fosterers arms. Our thoughts are with her foster family who are devastated and her sister Diamond who she leaves behind. Sleep tight sweetheart
Chock-Dee is a 12 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who came into Oldies Club care with her sister Diamond in February 2020 after the breakdown of their owners marriage and them having to move to pet free accommodation. They are affectionately known by their fosterers as Big C and Tiny D.
What was immediately noticeable was that their tongues tend to hang out a lot. Chock-Dee only 2 which means its very difficult for her to keep it in her mouth. Due to lack of teeth Chock-Dee struggles a little with eating.
Both have heart murmurs and Chock-Dee also has a malformed paw and joint issues which means she struggles to keep up with her smaller sister on walks. She also was suffering with a respiratory infection but thankfully antibiotics got this under control.
Due to their health concerns, Oldies Club made the decision to place Chock-Dee & Diamond in our sponsor dog scheme, which means they will remain at their lovely foster home on a permanent basis, with the charity paying their vet bills for the rest of their lives.
Big C is the more timid of the two. She doesn’t like to be too far away from her smaller sister who is full of character.
If you would love to offer a home to an oldie but your circumstances aren’t suitable, perhaps you would be kind enough to sponsor Chock-Dee & Diamond, or one of the other special oldies we are caring for in our sponsor dog scheme.
