Gorgeous Simmie is begging for a special home with someone who loves small terriers and understands their needs and Chilterns Dog Rescue Society in Hertfordshire are helping him to make his wish come true.

Simmie is a black, rough-coated Jack Russell Terrier Cross and is about 9 years of age. He has spent all his life in an adult-only home which he shared with his brother. The dogs received a lot of affection but insufficient exercise and little or no training. The arrival of a new baby prompted his owners to reassess their priorities and come to the conclusion he would be happier rehomed.

Simmie is a very good-looking dog who enjoys the company of people. He is an active terrier who loves cuddles but needs firm boundaries in all aspects of his life. He was very confused and quite reactive towards unfamiliar dogs on arrival, but a steady programme of socialisation and training has provided him with a framework to remain calm and focused around other dogs and even make a few new friends to play with. This remains a work in progress and his new owner would be supported with ongoing training for Simmie if local to CDRS.

Simmie would be ideally suited to a home without children, cats or other small pets. A laidback doggy friend would probably help build his confidence, but he could also be the only dog in the home. For his age, Simmie has lots of energy and can easily exercise for an hour or more every day; this includes time to play, dog training as well as long walks in the wood. A secure garden to run, play and dig in would also be a must.

Simmie is crate-trained and can be left for a few hours a day if required. He has little experience with car travel but has been good when being transported to and from the vets. He may not be the most straight-forward of Oldies looking for a home right now but, once you have his trust and he knows you will make the best decisions for him, he could be the most rewarding. He is inoculated, microchipped and neutered and has no known health issues.
