11/09/21 -Sponsor Dog Jazz has passed away . He had lost his spark and no longer appeared to recognise those around him who he loved. Sleep tight lovely boy x
Sweet Jazz is an 15-year-old Staffie x Boxer, who came into Oldies Club care in 2016.
Jazz is a sensitive soul who came to us following a relationship breakdown. We were informed that sadly Jazz had been badly attacked by 2-3 other dogs in the past and had to have approximately 200 stitches :-(. This was understandably an upsetting experience for him and he has been spooked by other dogs when they have approached off lead and haven’t read his body language. His fosterers have worked very hard to try to help him since he’s been in the charity’s care, but due to his previous experience, he required a special home where he would be the only dog.
Due to this experience and the lack of suitable home offers for our special boy, Oldies Club made the decision in spring 2017 that Jazz should be placed in our sponsor dog scheme, which means he will remain as a permanent foster dog in his current foster home, with the charity covering all of his vet bills and arranging any necessary ongoing Oldies Club approved behavioural support.
Despite his past, Jazz settled in well with his foster family, has wonderful manners and even helps with bringing washing in from the line!
Jazz is okay to be left for 3-4 hours, but he enjoys being with his family whenever possible. He is still a fit and active ‘oldie’, but as long as he gets decent walks, he is happy to have a bit of a snooze too.
Jazz’s foster family says he is wonderful walking on-lead. He doesn’t pull and he listens to instructions. He does a lot of street walking with his family, because he’s much happier if any other dogs encountered are also on a lead. He does get to visit the park if it’s quiet, where he is very happy and playful. He is in good condition for his age and he is no trouble when travelling in the car.
Jazz loves being with his family, where he’s sociable and happy. He loves playing football in the garden. He’ll do anything for a treat, and continual belly rubs are very much appreciated!
Jazz’s forever foster family tell us: Handsome, gentle, playful and loyal. Jazzy is a beautiful boy. He’s easy to have around the home and loves to spend time with his family. He doesn’t pull on the lead and he trots along on his walks. Jazzy is a beautiful, bright, loving and happy dog, who is intelligent and willing to please. Jazzy really is adorable.”
If you would love to offer a home to an oldie but your circumstances aren’t suitable, perhaps you would be kind enough to sponsor Jazz, or one of the other special oldies we are caring for in our sponsor dog scheme, for yourself or as a gift for a dog lover.
