23/02/2022 – Baxter has been adopted having been spotted on Oldies Club! Hooray!

Baxter is a lovely Lurcher boy who is approximately 8 years old and in the care of Rescue Remedies at their boarding kennels near Gatwick on the Surrey/West Sussex border.

He was found as a stray and left unclaimed in a council pound so there’s no history on him, just the niceness of his character.

It’s likely he’d been used for hunting in the past as he has a few battle scars and is alert to small furries. Baxter walks well on a lead at gentle pace but can have strong moments if he sees a deer or other exciting prey. He definitely couldn’t live with cats.

Baxter is generally fine with other dogs. If an off-lead dog approaches him he can get nervous but is easy to reassure. He finds walking near heavy traffic a bit scary and needs reassuring then too. He has a gentle temperament and is very friendly with people. Not to mention soppy and cuddly with those he knows!

Baxter has proven himself a wonderful companion on regular foster breaks from kennels – he’s an undemanding, house trained and well a behaved dog in the home. He’s certainly got the Lurcher talent for lounging.

Baxter loves travelling by car, settling immediately on journeys. He will happily stay in a car for hours. He has visited several pubs and restaurants, where he will lie down unobtrusively for the duration.

Baxter is neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated. He gets admiring glances wherever he goes.

If you have sofa space for this loving boy, please read Rescue Remedies’ homing process here carefully, then complete their Homing questionnaire here.

Please say you saw Baxter on the Oldies Club website.
