We have many thousands of website visitors and “follows” on social media, who presumably all care about older dogs in rescue, which is wonderful, and we are very glad you are here with us
. I know the pesky algorithms on Facebook will be preventing our appeal posts from reaching many of our supporters there, but for those we do reach, both here and there, we don’t seem to be connecting with nearly as many dog lovers as I had hoped when we launched our Summer Appeal :-(We very much appreciate those who have already donated to Oldies Club recently, whether to the appeal or in another way. We also understand these are not the easiest of times for many in the UK and we are not asking anyone to give more than they can, but if you can spare a donation of £2 or more, please do make a donation to our appeal today.
We work hard, as a volunteer-run rescue and registered charity, to ensure that we have the finances available to provide for the dogs in our care, who often arrive in need of extensive veterinary examinations, treatment and medication, before they can be adopted. Unfortunately, if we don’t bring in the money we need this will impact on the number of dogs we can help in the near- and longer-term future, potentially including dogs who are on our waiting list now, which makes me rather worried and sad
. However, we do consider it vital, as a responsible rescue, to know that we can meet all of a dog’s needs when we bring them into our care, just as one wishes to ensure the same for their own beloved animal companions.
We love that you join us in welcoming each new dog into our care, empathise when they are poorly and cheer when they are adopted (especially the ‘failed fosters’?) and we really hope that more of you will feel able to make a donation to help us continue to help these precious, sugar-frosted dogs. You can donate from £2 to our Summer Appeal and your donation, of whatever amount you can spare, WILL make a difference.
