18/12/2023 Beautiful Bella Beagle has now been adopted.

Bella is a beautiful 8-year-old Beagle who is with Hay Animal Rescue Team in Hay-on-Wye, Powys, Wales.
Bella is looking for a home with beagle-experienced adopters. She has settled well in her foster home and has taken to using her crate – she takes herself off to rest in there during the day. She enjoys playing with toys, and is food motivated. She has a treat ball which she loves, and a puzzle board which she soon got the hang of – she got all of the treats out in no time. She loves to make a ‘nest’ and has an old duvet which is ideal for her to burrow into.
Typical of her breed, Bella doesn’t like being left alone, even with the other dogs; she will settle in her crate but will whine and sometimes start to howl. Potential adopters will need to be fully prepared to work with Bella in trying to gradually get her used to being left a little.
One word that sums up Bella is inquisitive! She loves to get her nose into everything: up on the worktop, in bags, in the fridge and in anything that is new. She hasn’t attempted to steal any food off the worktop or from bags though, she is just nosey. Bella loves to get up high, sitting on the table or the back of the settee. Her foster carers have been trying to train her to not jump up, but she is quite determined and so it will be a long process – she is a typical hound in that respect.
Temperament wise Bella is lovely, very friendly, and after initial excitement she has calmed down and is happy to curl up in her bed by the fire in the evenings. She gets on well with the resident dogs and has always lived with other dogs. She has also lived with cats and could do so again. She loves her walks but can be quite strong and tends to pull, although with a harness this is significantly reduced.
Bella is an escape artist and when in the garden she heads straight to the gate and tries to open it with her nose, so she needs a very secure garden with high fences.
