7/8/23 – Little Timmy has gone off to his new home!
———————-

Timmy is a very sweet 15-year-old Yorkshire Terrier who came into rescue after the death of his owner. Timmy is in an Oldies Club foster home in Rochdale, Lancashire, waiting for someone to offer him a quiet home to snooze in.

Settled well in foster: Timmy is blind and deaf, but he settled remarkably quickly at his foster home and didn’t appear distressed in any way. Bless his little cotton socks!

Fine to be left a while: Timmy doesn’t mind if you go out and leave him for a few hours as he likes to spend most of his day snoozing. He is good at night too and he doesn’t stir until woken in the morning.

Good with dogs and cats: Timmy cannot see the resident dogs in his foster home, but he does not appear to be troubled by their presence. Similarly for the four resident cats, he doesn’t see them but isn’t at all worried by them.

Sensible older teenagers only: Although Timmy has shown no aggression in any circumstances, he doesn’t really know what is going on around him and could easily be scared if suddenly disturbed or interfered with. For this reason we think he would be a happiest in a quiet home where any children are older teenagers or perhaps just occasional visitors.

Doesn’t go for walks: Timmy doesn’t go for walks as he cannot see where he is going and becomes nervous about moving around. His foster carers put him on a lead to gently lead him into the garden every few hours. He will wander around outside, but he likes to keep close to the house. Sometimes he will find the step back into the house and return to his bed. Other times he will just stand outside until he is led back in. He can hear a sharp whistle but cannot tell which direction it is coming from. At night his foster carers have been taking Timmy out at about midnight and then he sleeps through until 8am without a problem.

Good in the car: Timmy seems happy in the car. He just settles down and sleeps.

Timmy’s favourite pastimes: Sleeping, doggy treats and meals. He’s obviously a dog of impeccable taste in pastimes!

Timmy’s dislikes: He is startled every time he is stroked as he cannot see or hear people around him. He is not keen on having his eye drops administered, but he does accept them.

Timmy’s ideal home: This sweet little chap just wants a nice quiet home where he can sleep comfortably. You must have a safe and secure garden, directly accessible from your home, for him to stretch his legs and enjoy a bit of fresh air.

Health notes: Timmy is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and flea treated. He is blind and deaf, though can hear a sharp whistle. He has Isathal eye drops (artificial tears) twice a day for dry eyes. He has some degree of renal failure which is managed conservatively at present with Ipakitine (complementary foodstuff) on his meals.

Timmy’s foster carer told us: “Timmy is no trouble and is a quiet boy. Although he is blind and deaf he is settled within his routine and accepts the care he needs. Timmy spends his time snoozing in his bed but may wander around when he thinks his meal is due. He likes doggy treats and plenty of water at all times. If Timmy is lifted up onto your knee and stroked gently, he will snooze and appears content.”

Could you offer Timmy a quiet home to snooze in?

If you would love to offer a home to an oldie but your circumstances aren’t suitable, perhaps you would be kind enough to sponsor one of the special oldies we are caring for that, due to health problems, are unlikely to be offered a permanent home.
