Cute Boo Boo is a little, tan and white Yorkshire Terrier/Jack Russell Cross, weighing just 7kg and she is 13 years of age (dob 26/2/10). Boo Boo came to Chilterns Dog Rescue Society, near Tring, Hertfordshire, as an emergency. Her temporary care had broken down after her owner died, leaving Boo Boo without anyone to look after her.

Boo Boo is a delightful companion dog, full of character and happy to meet new friends and other small dogs. Her favourite things are having a cuddle, short daily walks and a cosy bed. There is no available history of Boo Boo living with children but, staff at the Rescue Centre feel that she would welcome visiting children or grandchildren if they were calm and gentle.

While Boo Boo likes to be the centre of attention, it is possible she could live with another dog and potentially a dog-savvy cat. She is happy to travel by car. She would prefer someone around for much of the day but could cope with short periods alone for shopping trips, etc., once settled in her new home (although she might ‘sing’ a bit at first).

Boo-boo was underweight on arrival and the condition of her skin was very poor, probably due to a lack of proper nutrition and care. She was also diagnosed with a grade 3 heart murmur. Of greater concern was a grapefruit-sized mass on her upper thigh. Blood tests and a needle biopsy were performed and, fortunately, the initial results indicated a large, non-malignant, fatty mass which has just been removed.

Boo Boo before surgery!

This significant surgery was not without risk because the mass was so near a large nerve, but the cost and the worry were more than worth it. Boo Boo is making an amazing recovery and, for the first time in a long while, can move more freely. Walks are even more fun.

After surgery!

Staff caring for Boo Boo are urgently looking for a new home for her from around 1st December so that she can move directly from the Rescue Centre into her forever home, once she gets the all-clear from the vet.

Boo Boo may be one of the more senior dogs at the Rescue Centre, but she can still look forward to a happy retirement. A quiet home with someone looking for a gentle canine friend with lots of personality would be ideal.
