9/1/2023 – Lovely Buster has found a foster home with a view to adoption and has quickly made himself at home. Brilliant news!
—————–
Buster is a 12 year old springer spaniel who is with South East Dog Rescue due to his owners’ ill health. Buster spent the last 2 years living in their garden.
Sweet Buster needs a very active home where he will get long walks and have lots of attention from you. He lives to play fetch and would happily play ball all day. He can become over-stimulated by ball play though so his foster family have been providing brain games and enrichment too.
Buster was initially strong on the lead, but his foster family have been working on this and he now walks more calmly. He has a lot of energy for a 12 year old dog though, so his new owner must be physically fit.
Due to being deprived of love and attention for 2 years, he is quite needy and he finds it difficult to settle while his foster mum works from home. Some days he wants constant attention, which can be challenging if you have other things you need to do. Buster would benefit from having a dog as company, and a very active home with people who have the time and energy to keep him occupied. If you are looking for a calm, chilled dog who will sleep under your desk for a few hours after a walk while you work, Buster is not the dog for you!
Buster travels well in the car. At night he will settle nicely downstairs to sleep. And has not shown any signs of separation anxiety when left, but if you are at home, Buster will need a lot of your attention. This is why an active home where he will be taken out and kept occupied is what he needs.
Buster loves meeting new dogs and he would love a home with a robust canine friend who will be able to keep up with his energy levels. He needs an adult home without cats. He is perfectly housetrained (other than a few settling-in accidents) and has shown no signs of separation anxiety.
Buster had some weakness in his back end, but this has been investigated with x-rays and nothing untoward was seen, so it was most likely muscle wastage due to not being walked. This has already improved significantly while he’s been in rescue. He was incredibly matted when he arrived and had to be clipped very short, so he will need regular grooming. He has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.
Could you offer Buster an active, adult-only home with a playful canine companion?
