Ninja is a loving, 11 year old, blue Staffordshire Bull Terrier who came to the Senior Staffy Club due to a change in his owner’s circumstances. Ninja is a lovely little Staffy, very easy to walk, loves giving his kisses and he really deserves for someone to give him a chance. The Stoke Kennel Manager, who knows him best, is very happy to have a no obligation chat about Ninja before you apply by form.
Ninja is a very sweet, friendly boy who greets everyone with his lovely waggy tail. He loves having attention and will sit and have a fuss and give lots of Staffy kisses. However, he has bitten whilst in care and SSC will happily discuss this in more detail with you, but it happened in specific circumstances after he had been unwell (sick). Ninja has been assessed by an independent behaviourist (as well as the Kennel Manager). Both have seen no concerns with his general behaviour and describe him as a happy boy who just wants to please.
Ninja needs a quiet, calm and experienced home where he can settle and de-stress at his own pace. He’d like a home without any children or visiting children and would benefit from a secure, private garden. He cannot live with any other pets. His walkers, who take him out every day and play games and treat searches with him have had no issues with him at all at the kennels.
Ninja loves his treats and is becoming an expert at treat searches. He also gives his paw on cue for a treat and will offer his paw as a way of asking for more food. He does like to have the odd play with a toy, but his favourite thing is definitely his walks. He loves going for his walks and walks beautifully on the lead without any pulling at all. He enjoys investigating his surroundings with the most adorable little Staffy snorts along the way. Nothing seems to faze Ninja when he’s out and about as he just wants to get on with enjoying his walk. He passes other dogs without any interest, even those that react to him.
Ninja is not a fan of travelling and finds it hard to settle, plus he may sing you a song or two. He’s not had much experience of car journeys in the past so, with lots of good experiences, this could definitely improve.
Ninja is very well-behaved in the waiting room, although he can get a bit impatient if he’s kept waiting and tells everyone about it in typical Staffy singing style. He is very well-behaved for general examinations, though treats are used to make him happier with this. He’s not a fan of things being done to him such as nail trims, so he is muzzled for any blood draws etc. as a precaution.
Since coming into care, Ninja has had a nasty ear infection that has been treated under general anaesthetic. He’s had routine bloods and a thyroid blood panel and all came back normal. He has had a few flare-ups of an upset stomach. This is suspected to be chronic pancreatitis or Irritable Bowel Disease (this is not yet confirmed as it requires blood tests during a flare-up). He is currently on a novel, single protein diet and treats to help this, plus he also takes Omeprazole tablets daily. If needed, SSC can help towards the costs of his diet and medication.
Also, a daily pre/probiotic is recommended for Ninja. His hair loss is most likely to be due to Alopecia and so, unfortunately, is unlikely to grow back. Ninja is not neutered due to veterinary advice. If it needs to be done in the future for medical reasons, SSC will cover the costs. He will start his vaccinations shortly and, if these haven’t been done by the time he is adopted, SSC will cover the costs.
Ninja is microchipped. He is currently in Stoke-on-Trent and a home within approximately two hours travel distance would be ideal. Any adopter should be willing to travel to meet him at least twice where he is now.
There are lots of lovely videos to watch and photos of Ninja here.
