29/7/23 – These adorable best friends have gone to their new home today!
——————–
Panni and Tomi are a bonded pair who have lived together for at least 9 years. They are looking for a loving home together due to a change in family circumstances no longer able to take care of them. Panni is an 11 year old Dutch Shepherd and Tomi is an 11 year old Crossbreed.
Relaxed in foster: They took a few days to get their bearings in their foster home in North West London but, once they knew where they could sleep and the general boundaries, they both relaxed.
Can be left for short periods: Whilst Panni and Tomi are content to be left alone (they have been left alone for up to 3.5 hours with no issues) and just find their beds, curl up and go to sleep, their main focus is on their humans, so having someone around most of the time would be ideal.
Good with other dogs: Panni and Tomi enjoy the company of other dogs. They are sociable and polite in all scenarios. They have met many dogs on their walks both on and off lead and had dogs come to stay in their home.
Fine with cats: Panni and Tomi are polite with cats. They are currently living with a cat and they have been led by the cat as to how much interaction is wanted.
Good with older children: Tomi is just happy to be petted and could live with children over 10. However, Panni can become quite unsettled with fast and loud movement. She would be better with older children.
Enjoy walks: Both Panni and Tomi are very good on the lead. It took a while before they realised what recall meant but, now that they do, they respond – most of the time! Whilst both dogs are physically fit, their stamina is not great. They enjoy an amble, with lots of sniffing and checking out other dogs and people on their walks. Their big walk/amble is roughly 45 minutes and sometimes they have a second little potter of about 20 minutes.
Good in the car: Panni and Tomi travel well and are very chilled in the car. They curl up and go to sleep with no trouble.
Their favourite pastimes: Both Panni and Tomi live for being petted. They want nothing more than to be stroked and to have a safe place to sleep. Tomi has a big playful streak and, with the right dog, he will have a good old run around.
Tomi and Panni’s dislikes: Tomi is a happy dog and hasn’t shown any aversions to anything. Panni, however, was most likely abused as a puppy. She doesn’t like sticks being waved around and definitely doesn’t like thwack noises. Squeaky toys worry her and she once spooked in the park when a boy was just bouncing a football on the ground. When out for a walk she has a loose, long line attached, just in case she spooks at something.
Their ideal home: Panni and Tomi are sensitive souls. They respond to the emotions in the house, so a calm home with routine would be ideal. A resident dog to show the way would be nice but not essential. Whilst they have shown no problems with traffic or busy environments, they would probably prefer a quiet location.
Health notes: Both Tomi and Panni have no known health problems. They are neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and flea/worm treated.
More from their foster carer: Panni and Tomi are exceptionally easy dogs to get along with. They are calm, soppy dogs with sensitive souls. They trust that their humans will help them with each new challenge and they reward their humans with love, companionship and many, many cuddles.

Panni and Tommi can be rehomed anywhere on the UK mainland – the closer to their foster home the better – subject to a satisfactory home visit. Note that you will be required to travel to the foster home to collect them.

If you would love to offer a home to an oldie but your circumstances aren’t suitable, perhaps you would be kind enough to sponsor one of the special oldies we are caring for that, due to health problems, are unlikely to be offered a permanent home.
