01/06/2023 sadly Pebbles deteriorated suddenly and after a discussion with the vets it was agreed the kindest thing was to let her go. Sleep tight lovely girl x
Pebbles is a 10 years old Springer Spaniel who came into our care in September 2021. She was an unclaimed stray and sadly appears to have been used rather heavily for breeding.
Pebbles sadly had malignant mammary tumours and also secondary soft tissue cancer on her back , hip and rectum. She has had previous surgery but unfortunately the cancer is too widespread. She also has long term medication for her leaky bladder , stiff joints and pain relief for her damaged back leg , that hadn’t been treated properly so has healed badly.
Due to her numerous health issues, Oldies Club made the decision to place Pebbles in our sponsor dog scheme, which means she will remain at her lovely foster home on a permanent basis, with the charity paying her vet bills for the rest of her life.
Despite the life Pebbles may have had before being rescued she is the most loving and happy little girl, who still amazingly trusts people . She loves to be close to her fosterer as it makes her feel secure. She likes to keep them within her sight or she’ll panic and start barking.
Pebbles loves to go on a little walk and is always keen to see what is around the next corner. She has an old injury in her back right leg which means she cannot go for very long walks but enjoys her time out. She sometimes hops when she has had too much. She is deaf and has no traffic sense so is kept on lead. As long as her lead is long enough for the Springer zig-zag and snuffle she is happy.
Pebbles enjoys going out on girls outings and visiting her fosterer’s father and his dog who she gets on very well with.
Her fosterer says that Pebbles is completely adorable and deserves to be loved and cherished for as long as she has left.
If you would love to offer a home to an oldie but your circumstances aren’t suitable, perhaps you would be kind enough to sponsor Pebbles, or one of the other special oldies we are caring for in our sponsor dog scheme.
