This very cute pair are Scrabbles, a tiny, 14 year old, male Yorkshire Terrier and his bonded friend Meir who is a standard,11 year old, female Yorkshire Terrier. These little dogs came to Wonky Pets Rescue after their owner passed away and there was no-one left to care for them. They have been well loved but, sadly, are a little neglected health-wise.
Scrabbles and Meir are lovely, friendly dogs with people, but Scrabbles can be defensive of Meir with other dogs in the home so they would need to be the only pets. Meir has slotted into a multi-dog foster home well but Scrabbles certainly finds it stressful. It’s not known what they are like with cats as they have never met any and they will need a home without small resident children (sensible visiting children are absolutely fine).
Scrabbles and Meir are good companions in the house, clean and non-destructive. They will sleep downstairs together quietly at night and are okay to be left for a few hours, but they are used to having a lot of company and wouldn’t want to be left for long periods. They walk nicely on the lead and are loving their walks. They travel well in the car too so can go off on lovely adventures. They will need a home with a nice secure garden to potter about in.
Scrabbles has no teeth left at all now but it doesn’t hinder him. He has been castrated for health benefits and, apart from some age-related pannus on his eyes, he has an otherwise clean bill of health from the vets. He has always needed help having his anal glands expressed but a supplement called Glandex will help him with that going forward.
Meir arrived with a really awful infected mouth full of rotten teeth; she had infected and ulcerated gums which must have been so painful and she also had a small lump on her gum which has now been removed along with 26 teeth bless her. Her mouth will soon be fully healed and she will feel so much better. Other than some normal age-related cloudiness in her eyes, she has an otherwise clean bill of health now.
Scrabbles and Meir are neutered, microchipped flea and worm treated. Both will be rehomed with 5 weeks’ free pet insurance. Being Yorkies, they will need regular grooming so please also bear this in mind when applying. They are now fostered in Hinstock, near Market Drayton, Shropshire but can be rehomed further afield to the perfect home subject to a home-check and adoption donation of £350 for them.
