14/12/23 – We are delighted to hear that gorgeous Sophie has found a new home!

Beautiful, wonderful Sophie is a 7-year-old German Shepherd who desperately needs to find a new home after the tragic death of her female owner, meaning that her male owner has had to go into a nursing home. It’s a terribly sad situation.
Sophie is being cared for by a relative who has flown over from Australia to make necessary arrangements, but this is obviously not a long term solution for Sophie and she needs to move to a new home as soon as possible. South West GSD Rescue are providing backup for the rehoming.
Having had a 5* home, Sophie has been beautifully cared for, and this really shows. She’s great with other dogs of all sizes and breeds. She used to go out regularly on a GSD group walk with lots of other GSDs, and she loved it. She walks very well on the lead.
In the house she adores her crate and other soft beds. Sophie is great with visitors. She barks when the door goes but is then fine: she’s had multiple carers coming to the home for her male owner in recent weeks and she loves them all and they love her. She has not had much contact with children, simply due to her past home not having any, but she’s getting used to meeting them on walks and it’s thought that she would be fine with dog-savvy older children. Her home had chickens in the garden and she was fine with them, however she has shown interest in squirrels on walks.
When her owner was in hospital, Sophie was being left for quite long periods but she was a good girl and fine about being left. She went to doggy daycare several days a week and mixed with the dogs there with no problems at all. Sophie is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and she is in good general health, having been very well cared for.
We are hoping that Sophie gets noticed by some really lovely GSD-loving people. Could you offer wonderful Sophie a new home?
