Aurora is a female bully-lurcher cross. She is 7 years old and is being rehomed by Lurcher Link Rescue and is in Halifax, West Yorkshire. Poor Aurora has been in kennels for 6 years! It’s so unfair and we hope that she will finally get noticed by the right person and finds the ideal home she’s been waiting for.
Aurora is a super girl who has been in kennels for so very long. This is probably partly because she’s not really a lurcher, and also because she has one bad habit that means she will be a bit of a challenge for her new people! But she’s a lovely girl and deserves to not spend the rest of her life in rescue. There must be someone out there who would be the perfect home for Aurora.
She is a lovely dog, is spotless in her kennel, knows “sit”, “paw”, “down”, “bed”, and is well-mannered and very eager to please. Aurora absolutely loves playing with her toys (ones she can’t destroy!) and throwing them around. However she does have some specific homing requirements, as follows.
Aurora has a very strong prey drive and can be very strong on the lead if she decides to pull (she weighs approximately 28-30kg), so she needs someone who has experience of owning and walking large dogs. Currently she is walked with a headcollar and is muzzled around other dogs (particularly small ones). However she is not reactive to other dogs on a walk unless provoked. She is best rehomed as an only dog.
Aurora finds it fun to shred and destroy anything soft and fluffy. This includes bedding. She would also do the same to your sofas! For this reason she’s going to need somewhere with a large garden, plenty of exercise and things to stimulate her to distract her from her bad habit of destruction! She will also need plenty of supervision while she gets used to new ways of entertaining herself, and learns not to eat your soft furnishings!
So who is up for the Aurora challenge?!
She is not suitable to live with cats. She is also not suitable to live with children, nor the frail elderly – due to her boisterous strength she could easily knock them over.
Aurora deserves a lovely home where she can play with her toys in the garden and laze around. She is microchipped, vaccinated and spayed.
