Beagle Benji came into the Forest of Dean Dog Rescue from a very bad situation of terrible neglect. He had horrendous skin issues and his skin was red raw from being in his own excrement. It has taken quite some time to get him right, but that’s all in the past now and he’s ready for the perfect, forever home he truly deserves.
Benji is 10 years old and his carers say he’s a typical Beagle: he loves his walks and his nose is to the ground. He gets excited when he sees his lead and has been known to do a happy dance. Benj can be a little strong in his excitement, but he’s manageable with his harness and bungee lead. He does try to please you and just loves his treats. He’s good with other dogs and could live with children aged 12+. He has not been tested with cats.
Benji is lucky and has landed on his feet with a place in foster and he has picked up house-training quickly. He was very happy to meet his new hound sibling. He travels well in the car. He’s not a big fan of being left but is okay for short periods and has his safe and happy space in his crate.
Benji is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and up-to-date with his flea/worm treatment. His ear infections and skin issues are managed and under control with half a tablet of Apoquel a day. If he’s homed in the Forest of Dean or nearby, the Rescue are happy to continue to pay for his Apoquel medication and anything relating to it, e.g. checks regarding Apoquel and repeat prescriptions fee. He’s like a new hound with no other health concerns.
