3/1/2024 Adorable Bobby has been snapped up by a previous CDRS adopter who lost an elderly dog recently. It is a lovely match.

As you can see, Bobby is a charming Shih Tzu/Bichon Frise Cross. He found himself in need of a new home when his elderly owner was admitted to hospital and there was no-one else in the family who could care for him. Having been used to being with the same person every day for the whole of his life, Bobby is finding his move to Chilterns Dog Rescue Society very stressful. He urgently needs to be in a quiet home again, preferably with someone home for most of the day and without steps for him to negotiate.

Bobby has just turned 12 (dob 19.12.2011) and he has a very sweet, but anxious, nature. He is described as ‘a loving, loyal and non-boisterous’ little dog. He requires minimal exercise because his legs are quite wobbly. Bobby has never had a garden (having used puppy mats in the house), so to retire to somewhere with a secure garden area to potter around in would be his idea of heaven.

Having been used to having company all day, Bobby was quite vocal when first left alone but he is now learning to settle for short periods of time alone. He does not seem to be bothered whether there are other dogs around or not and would not pose a risk to a cat or other pets. He is used to visiting children.

Overall, Bobby is in good health and his ears, teeth, skin and heart are excellent for his age. He does however struggle with arthritis. Although Bobby has a good range of movement and is keen to go on short walks, his left hind leg in particular is quite weak. He benefits from daily Yumove and Metacam, as well as a monthly injection of Librela. However, Bobby’s new owner will need to understand that, while Bobby is generally fit and well, his back legs could finally give out. Nevertheless, he is a happy, friendly dog who could still enjoy a quality retirement in a loving home.
