Dear old Casey is a sweet, medium-sized Crossbreed lady in the care of Rescue Remedies at their boarding kennels near Gatwick, on the Surrey/West Sussex border.
She is well loved by staff and volunteers for her gentle, affectionate nature and her ability to really savour the enjoyment of stately walks with plenty of interesting smells.
Not to mention, her ability to savour sausages!
One volunteer dog walker said, “A fabulous girl, very gentle and friendly and likes an amble with lots of sniffs rather than a fast march. She appears to be completely non-dog reactive and obviously loves people. Lovely thick soft coat and big dark gentle eyes.”
“Casey and I had a fabulous walk today. We shared it with Mika and another little terrier. I really didn’t think she would walk far, but it was woodland walk and out onto the bridle path, right to the end to the bridge and then back again. As she is a princess around mud, we went back via the road and lane back to the kennels.”
Casey had a sad reason for coming into rescue. In 2016 she was abandoned and found alone in her home. Her previous owners had done a moonlight flit and left her there. She was rehomed through a different rescue back then but, sadly, her owner developed acute onset Dementia. The family had her in kennels for a while and then Rescue Remedies took her under their wing. Out of this history of upheaval, Casey has emerged miraculously well-adjusted and full of love!
She’s a little hand shy around the head but really enjoys a scratchies anywhere else and will lean in for fuss. Casey is spayed, microchipped and fully vaccinated. She is on anti-seizure medication as she had a seizure 6 years ago but she seems to be a robust lady who enjoys life to the full, in a relaxed way.
Another volunteer walker said, “Her tail was continuously wagging and she gently took her sausage treats along the way and it was one of the best walks. She was out for nearly an hour. She’s a great girl and she happily led me back to her kennel, where she had more treats and a cuddle before chilling in her bed with a dog chew. I just love this girl!”
This remarkable dog is loving, steady and takes life at her own pace. She is a lovely companion who deserve home comforts and people to call her own. You can see more walkies reports, photos and video clips of Casey here.
