Chocolate (Safe Rescue, fostered Norfolk)

Cutie Chocolate is a 15 year old Shih Tzu whose Mum recently passed away and the family surrendered him into the care of Safe Rescue. He’s now comfortably settled in a foster home in Hingham, Norfolk, waiting to go home.

Chocolate came with a horrendous tumour hanging from his mouth. He was starved and skin and bone. The Rescue took him to the vets expecting the worst, but the vets said they would like to operate and give him a chance.

Chocolate had the tumour removed and most of his teeth taken out (falling out), leaving just 2. Since the operation, he has thrived, but it’s not known just how much his life expectancy could be, perhaps months or a year or so. He simply deserves the best retirement home now. Chocolate would be fine with visiting children and happy with a non-playful dog or on his own.

At the moment, Chocolate is doing great. He has 3 meals a day of chicken and wet food. He loves going on walks, loves people and loves dogs. So, if Chocolate is to find the perfect home, this is the criteria: he has to be fed chicken twice daily, needs to go out and walk and socialise, lots and lots of cuddles, kisses and loving. He is a total sweetheart.

Safe Rescue have a policy that all dogs adopted from them must wear a slip lead on walks. Please only enquire about Safe Rescue dogs if you are happy to always use a slip lead – extendable leads are not acceptable to Safe Rescue. All dogs have to be collected and a crate must be used. Full details of their rehoming policy are on Chocolate’s details on Safe Rescue’s Facebook.
