Calling all big dog lovers ! Let us introduce you to Dopey Duke, as he is affectionately called by All Animal Rescue and Rehome. Currently in foster in Essex, he is looking for a forever home anywhere in the UK, where he can begin the new life he so deserves. He is a 7/8 yr old, 37kgs, gorgeous hunk of love, believed to be a Mastiff x Boxer, but as his sad history is chequered, it is hard to say exactly what he is. What we do know though, is that everyone that meets Dopey Duke, falls in love with him !
Duke was saved from the evil Chinese meat trade, and is one of the lucky ones to have been rescued and brought to the UK. He is described as a gentle giant, that just loves to be cuddled and give you his paw. He is a total joy to be with, and walks beautifully on and off lead. He is good with dogs of all sizes, so could be re homed as an only dog, or join your doggy pack. He is also fine with cats taking no notice of them in the home.
Duke has settled well into his new routine and loves pack life. He likes to explore, but will always return when he hears the treat tub opening ! He could be homed with children over the age of 13yrs that are used to larger dogs, and although he doesn’t have a bad bone in his body, he is a strong boy that could knock over smaller children. Duke is housetrained and not destructive. He can be left happily for short periods, and loves to be left snoozing on his bed, and is often found dozing with the cat !
As is common, poor Duke had his ears and tail docked when in China, but thankfully this has not effected him medically. He is such a happy boy, who doesn’t mind life in the slow lane, but will easily pick up the pace, if that’s what you want to do. He loves rolling in the grass, and it’s not hard to see why, knowing his previous life in a concrete cell in China.
Duke is described as an inquisitive and responsive boy, that would be easy to train when food is around. Duke travels well in the car and loves his home comforts. He relishes human company and is the most adorable boy inside or out.
He is a pleasure to be around, and whoever can find room for Dopey Duke in their life, will be extremely lucky indeed. If you think this could be you..
