If you are thinking about adopting a pair of oldies, you may want to read our article Are Two Oldies better than One?
Freya and Ralph are the very best of friends and Dogs4Rescue in Manchester would love to find them a home where they can stay together. They will be looking for an experienced, quiet environment with no young children.
Freya is the younger of the two at 5 years old and Ralph is 9 years old. They are Crossbreeds and medium sized. Freya is a sweet, sensitive girl who will take some time to bond with you but, as soon as she does, she is super affectionate, so much so that she will demand strokes.
Freya is shy and can be nervous. She has been excelling with her training and rehabilitation at the Rescue and is now walking well on-lead. She will need a patient and understanding owner who can continue to guide her and help her build confidence. She is very clever and learns quickly. She needs a gentle hand to help her show her full potential.
Ralph is also a shy boy who can be worried initially. It takes him a little longer to trust than Freya, but he is super food motivated and will do almost anything for a tasty treat. Once he knows and trusts you, he will give you the best welcome, wagging his whole body with excitement. He is not yet ready to be walked, so a home with a secure garden is essential.
Freya could live with cats but a cat test for Ralph has not yet been carried out. Freya and Ralph do mix well with other dogs but, as they are a bonded pair, they would be best suited to a home where they are the only dogs.
Care will need to be taken with strangers visiting the home as Freya has nipped in the past when a stranger entered her space. Management can be put in the place in the home to help Freya feel safe and she is crate trained.
