Please help Hocus by sharing this page!

Dear old Hocus is a small-medium sized Crossbreed boy in the care of Safe Rescue. He’s currently in a foster home in Lakenheath, Suffolk.

Hocus is good with other dogs but doesn’t form particularly strong bonds with them so he can either be an only dog or live with others. He does need a home where any youngsters are at least age 12 and kind.

Hocus is believed to older than his passport says (6 years). After coming into rescue he had a stroke and it took a while for his balance and mobility to recover. He’s all better now and enjoys gentle walks, although short ones suit him best. His stamina could be built up gradually.

Hocus has made amazing progress since coming into foster care. At first, he didn’t hold with humans at all but now realises that people are generally kind and being handled is fine. He will accept strokes from his carers but doesn’t put himself forward to ask for fuss.

The more Hocus experiences of his new existence of comfort and kindness, the more he’s relaxing and trusting of people. His new owners must be willing to build up a relationship with him at his pace. It will be worth a bit of patience to see this lovely dog truly happy!

Safe Rescue have a policy that all dogs adopted from them must wear a slip lead on walks. Please only enquire about Safe Rescue dogs if you are happy to always use a slip lead – extendable leads are not acceptable to Safe Rescue. All dogs have to be collected and a crate must be used. Full details of their rehoming policy are on Hocus’s details on Safe Rescue’s Facebook.
