1/9/24 – Isla is being fostered with a view to adoption!

Beautiful Isla came into the care of German Shepherd Rescue Elite in Nottingham from a local council having done her 7 days and not been claimed. It’s believed she is a German Shepherd/Australian Kelpie Cross and was just 4 years old then according to her microchip. Now, this gorgeous girl just needs someone to give her a chance.
Four years on this stunning lady, now 8 years old, is still being overlooked in kennels and no-one can understand why as she is such a lovely girl. She has stayed with one of the volunteers quite a few times now and this is what she says about her….
“Isla responds well to instruction and loves to be told she is a “good girl”; she is a fast learner. She walks well on the lead and any reactiveness is more about her being scared than her being aggressive particularly if a dog gets in her face. The volunteer has been working with her on her reactiveness, originally by letting Isla carry a ball when out which works really well but, as she has got better over the last couple of visits, Isla has been walked with no ball and on a recent GSD group walk she walked in the middle of the group dog with no reactiveness at all.
At 8 years old, Isla still has a lot of life in her and loves to fetch a ball and will do so for hours if you let her. Material toys are shredded in about 30 seconds so they stick to the balls. Isla has good recall and knows basic commands, she is fully house-trained, is good around her food and she takes treats gently.
Isla loves travelling in the car and can’t wait to get in it. Feedback from a recent visit to the groomers was that she behaved perfectly. These days, Isla loves to be around her human/humans so the escape artist from her past has long gone. She is very affectionate and she loves a good belly rub. She is such a character.”
Isla is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.
