Gentle Jack came into the care of the Senion Staffy Club after his owner became unwell and needed to move into assisted living. He is currently in foster care in Cheshire, but he can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, pending a successful home visit. However, any adopter should be willing to travel to meet him at least twice where he is now.
Jack is a 10 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier and he is a very friendly, gentle and calm boy. He loves having fuss and snuggles and gives out lots of kisses. He enjoys playing with his toys and rolling around with them, but he also enjoys rolling around on (and sometimes off!) the sofa without his toys! He loves his treats and enjoys puzzle feeders, kongs etc.
Jack walks well on the lead and does not pull. He is not reactive to other dogs on sight, but isn’t always keen on them being too close to him, so he needs a pet-free home. He was used to being left in his previous home, so could be left for up to 4 hours once settled into his new home. He can live with children aged 10+.
Jack travels beautifully and sits calmly on the backseat without any trouble. He has been to the vets for a health check and blood tests which came back within normal ranges. He has struggled in the past with blood draws (he also doesn’t like his eyes being examined) and, although the vets muzzled him, he was very well-behaved. Then once he realised that he was getting lots of cuddles, blood could be taken without any issue, they said what a lovely, happy boy he was.
Jack is neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. He suffers from allergies that affect his skin and, as his allergies weren’t under control when he arrived in rescue, he is currently taking a course of steroids to provide him with relief from his itchiness. He will most likely need to start taking Apoquel once he has finished the steroids. He also has a bath twice a week using Malaseb shampoo. He is very well-behaved for these.
