15/8/2024 Jack is so happy to report that he has found a new home and will not have to go into kennels now.

Adorable Jack needs to find a a forever home by August 23rd to avoid going into kennels, which would be so stressful for him following the loss of his beloved owner. He is living in the PL14 area and would like to find a home as close as possible to Liskeard, Cornwall, to avoid too much travel.
Jack is a loving, affectionate, 8 year old male Collie who is neutered, good with other dogs, and could live with dog-savvy cats and older children. Jack is medium energy for his breed and would appreciate a calm, fairly quiet home as he adjusts to his new life.
Jack has lived with his littermate and younger brother in a very rural area, where all three dogs were the centre of their owners’ world, learning many commands and tricks and playing with their toys and agility equipment. Unfortunately, as their owners’ health declined, they’ve had less exercise and socialisation. Since his owner’s passing, Jack has been being cared for by a family friend and is adapting well, with great responses to being around new dogs, children, cats and even a bird.
Jack is a very sweet, empathetic dog. He walks nicely on the lead once settled, and will lie down if he sees a smaller dog so as to not appear threatening! He loves a fuss – particularly bum scratches! – and has demonstrated good recall, though of course he should not go off-lead in a new home until he is fully settled and secure.
Jack doesn’t love travelling, but this can easily be tackled with patience, reassurance, and training, and he prefers older, quieter children. He can bark a bit and be wary of new people, but again this will improve with time and exposure to new things. Jack is not demanding in his exercise needs – half an hour to an hour a day of exercise, either walking or field play would keep him happy, though he would appreciate plenty of mental stimulation and involvement during the day to keep that Collie brain active!
Potential adopters will be prepared to give Jack time to adjust to his new home, and to come meet him in person, as well as having a home-check prior to adoption. He is being rehomed by a family friend with RBU (rescue back up) from SOKS Dogs, who will also provide any advice needed on helping Jack adjust to his new home and working on his insecurities. His vaccinations and health record are up to date.
