Please help Kato by sharing this page!

Beautiful, cheerful Kato is a 10-year-old Akita boy who’s a firm favourite with staff at Cheltenham Animal Rescue in Gloucestershire. They so want him to have some home comforts again, they say he can be long-term fostered if not adopted.

Kato is very affectionate and will sit with you for ages having fuss and cuddles – you can expect to be batted with a paw or be told with a whine if he feels he hasn’t had a satisfactory amount!

He makes everyone laugh with his goofy antics, including doing roly-polies over his toys.

Kato wants to be the only pet at home as he does resource guard his food and his very best toys. The rescue can give advice about this but it’s not a big deal when you’re used to it. It does mean he needs a child-free retirement home to prevent misunderstandings.

Kato is very intelligent and enjoys enrichment food puzzles, scent work games, playing with tennis balls (and rolling all over them!), listening to classical music and having lots of fuss and being told how good he is!

Kato is very used to walking in the urban area around the shelter, however he does wear a muzzle on these walks as he can be worried in specific situations e.g. dogs running up to him, people directly approaching him and cats tempting him for a chase, but he is very familiar with wearing the muzzle so this doesn’t trouble him at all.

Kato will make a loyal, entertaining and loving best friend if you give him the chance.

He loves to please his humans and is ever so slightly gorgeous!
