8/11/2024 Sadly, Sugar has passed away and her Mum, Lady, will now live with her foster family for however long she has left.

Lady (right, 15 years) and Sugar (left, 14 years) are a mother and daughter pair of Jack Russell Terriers looking for a peaceful home together through Dogs Trust Merseyside, Liverpool.

Lady & Sugar want to be the only pets at home but should be OK with sensible teenagers or visiting grandchildren, as long as they’re respectful. They depend on each other, although they need to be fed separately or they can forget their manners. It’s also best to walk Sugar on her own because she’s calmer out and about when she doesn’t feel she needs to protect her mother from other dogs.

Lady is a bit anxious at first with new people and new situations. She just needs to take things at her own pace and have a little reassurance. She soon comes round and enjoys a fuss. She doesn’t want long walks, instead preferring regular, short strolls or even just time in the garden to mooch about in at her own pace.

Lady is house-trained, but her older age can sometimes mean she has the odd accident if she is left for too long. She needs someone around to let her out often enough and then she’s fine.

Sugar loves to snuggle up in bed with her Mum and give her a good licking before hiding herself under a cosy blanket and settling down. She is house-trained but can have a little accident if she feels nervous. In a quiet home, these ladies should settle down in no time and provide lots of love and companionship.  They really deserve a proper retirement home at their age!
