Affectionate and loving Mutley came to the Senior Staff Club after a change in his owner’s circumstances. He’s currently enjoying life in a foster home in Cheshire while he hopes his forever home comes along soon.
Mutley is a 12 year old, male Staffordshire Bull Terrier. He is a very friendly, sweet-natured boy whose tail never stops wagging. He’s affectionate and gives little kisses and he also likes to push his body into your face when he gets excited. He’s simply a happy, friendly and cheeky chap.
Mutley loves his treats and can sit and give his paw on cue. He enjoys playing with toys and throwing his soft toys around to show them who’s boss. Mutley walks well on the lead without pulling and regularly checks in with whoever is walking him. He does have very stiff hips so is only on short walks at the moment. Mutley can bark at larger dogs, but this is just one bark and then he generally ignores them.
Mutley has travelled both in a van and on the backseat of a car and he does find both quite stressful. He does whine and pant, but he doesn’t move around a lot. This will hopefully improve with time and more journeys to fun places. It’s not known how he is when left, so he would need a home where time he is left alone could be built up slowly.
Mutley does get stressed at the vets and this wasn’t helped by his stress from travelling. He was well-behaved for his examination, especially as treats were involved. He needed to be sedated for a blood draw – not because he showed any aggression at any time, he was just very wriggly and wouldn’t keep still.
Mutley has cataracts in both eyes so does have limited vision. This doesn’t really affect him and he’s great at finding his way around once he’s mapped out his surroundings. He needs a calm home where things aren’t moved around a lot or left on the floor, etc. He has stiff hips in both legs and so has recently started a painkiller (Loxicom) to help with this. He is on short walks at the moment, but these can hopefully be lengthened once the painkillers start to work. His routine blood test came back with all normal levels.
Mutley can’t live with cats, but he may be able to live with a similar-sized/smaller dog (after several successful introductions) as he has lived with one before, but he does get a little anxious around bigger dogs. He is fine to live with children aged 12+.
Mutley isn’t yet neutered and this will need to be done once he has settled into his new home – SSC will cover the costs for this. He has started his vaccinations and is microchipped.
There are lots of lovely videos to watch and photos of Mutley here.
