19/11/2024: Oscar and Freya have been adopted together! Hooray!

Adorable pair Oscar (age 8) and Freya (age 11) are hoping to find their forever home together as they are very closely bonded. They are in the care of Saving and Rehoming Strays at their isolation unit in Ayr in Scotland, which is much more deluxe and spacious than a boarding kennel (to see it click HERE) but they really need a human or two to belong to once more.

Oscar and Freya are both affectionate dogs, with Oscar being the most forward about asking for fuss. When you’re busy, he’s happy to play or snooze with Freya. They’re both sweet natured and friendly. They could live with older children who are respectful.

On walks, Oscar and Freya are well behaved on the lead once their initial excitement has subsided. They’re a joy to be around and only care about love and fun. They travel well in the car and enjoy going on adventures. At home, they are clean and can be left for a while with each other for company.

The fact that they’ve been overlooked simply because they’re a pair is sad in itself, coupled with the fact that they came into rescue because their owner passed away compounds the sadness.

Saving and Rehoming Strays might be forced to separate these two as pairs of dogs are much more difficult to rehome. Most people don’t realise that two is often better than one as they reassure and entertain each other. Two dogs settle in a new environment a lot more easily than one does.

Oscar and Freya don’t need a great deal of exercise but they do need a good garden as they’ve always had one and enjoy pottering about outside. They are both spayed/neutered and are steady, low-maintenance, gentle and loving dogs who are worth taking a chance on, even if you hadn’t previously considered adopting two dogs together.

Having lived together for many years, it would be a tragedy if they had to be split up now.

Saving and Rehoming Strays can rehome to anywhere in Britain but potential adopters must be able to come and meet the dogs at the rescue beforehand.

If you might be able to help keep this pair of old sweeties together by offering them a nice retirement home, please have a look at the Saving and Rehoming Strays adoption process HERE.

Then fill in their pre-adoption application HERE.

Please say you saw Oscar and Freya featured as Old Dogs of the Week on the Oldies Club website.
