11/4/24 – Oscar has been rehomed!
Oscar is a 10 year old Chihuahua/Jack Russell Cross and he’s currently living in a temporary home in Sawston, Cambridge, provided by the RSPCA Cambridge & District Branch. He’d love to find his forever home where he would be grateful for someone who has time to give him a cuddle on their lap and would enjoy the company of another dog. Oscar needs to stay local to Cambridge as he needs a follow-up vet visit covered by the RSPCA.
Oscar can live with children, cats and small pets in a home with another dog, which is actually preferred as he has always lived with other dogs. If he is on his own without people around or another dog, he tends to bark and get separation anxiety. He could be left a short time with a dog for company. He sometimes has accidents with toileting, especially overnight. He enjoys one or two short walks a day and travels okay in the car.
This is what his fosterer says:
“Oscar has a very sweet nature. He came to us unexpectedly just after Christmas as his owners were overwhelmed by all their pets and struggling with health issues. He was used to large dogs and so fitted in with our Labrador and Vizsla really well and enjoys being with them. Although we don’t think that he had lived with cats before, he has accepted our resident cats and lets them walk past him and has even learned to follow them through the cat flaps!
We were warned that he might have toileting issues and at first he did, but we take him outside regularly and he now knows that he should wait to go outside, although it can be a bit too long for him to wait overnight. He has needed extensive dental work recently and that has been a bit of a setback in his training but, even when he was still dopey from the anaesthetic, he waited to go outside to do a wee. He didn’t seem to know about going for walks on a lead, but we have taken him out every day with our dogs and he trots along behind.”
Oscar is neutered and has no known medical conditions.
