3/9/24 – Peanut has found a home!
It is really hard to understand why adorable Peanut was picked up as a stray and remained unclaimed. However, he is now safe and he has settled in well with Chilterns Dog Rescue Society. He likes being with people so would appreciate someone at home for much of the day.
Peanut is a cream, smooth-coated Chihuahua and is approximately 10 years old. While there is no information about Peanut, he is an absolutely charming dog. He is very tiny, weighing just 2.5 Kg, but he has a big personality and lots of love to share.
Typical of the breed, Peanut is very lively and enjoys two walks of around half an hour each day plus off-lead playtime in a very secure garden area. He gets on well with the smaller dogs he mixes with every day so a home with another dog would be possible, although he would also be happy to be the centre of attention as an only pet.
Chihuahuas are known to be a very intelligent breed and Peanut is no exception. He is very quick to learn and his new owner could have a lot of fun teaching him new tricks to keep his mind, as well as his body, fit and active. Chihuahuas are one of the longer lived breeds so, hopefully, Peanut still has many happy years ahead of him.
Peanut has been diagnosed with a mild heart murmur but this does not impact him in any way or require treatment at this time. He also has a slight cherry eye. Again, this does not bother him and the vet feels that a decision to go ahead with surgery would be based on cosmetic considerations rather than medical grounds. The situation will be reviewed again when he is under general anaesthetic when he is neutered shortly.
