Friendly Phoebe is a Labrador/Husky Cross and is 8 years old. She is currently in kennels in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, under the care of the Senior Staffy Club after her owner became unwell. She would love to find her new home soon and can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, pending a successful home visit. However, any adopter should be willing to travel to meet her at least twice where she is now.
Phoebe is fun, friendly and energetic. She was very scared when she first arrived at SSC but has now become a very affectionate girl. She loves having her bum rubbed and gives out big kisses in return! She has lots of energy and really enjoys playing with her toys, especially enjoying a game of fetch.
Phoebe needs a pet-free home. She is not reactive to dogs on a walk, but can snap when they come too close. Phoebe can live with children aged 12+ due to her bouncy and excitable nature. She needs a secure garden; she can jump fences of around 4 foot. She can be left for up to 4 hours once settled into her new home.
Phoebe loves her treats and can sit, give paw and wait on cue. She really enjoys going for walks and has plenty of energy. She definitely needs plenty of exercise and would not be happy with regular short walks. Phoebe can be very strong on the lead and so needs someone that can handle her on a walk. She is very responsive though and will wait very calmly for passing traffic and sometimes even sits without being asked to.
Phoebe is not great at travelling. She becomes very vocal and can escape crates and end up wearing car guards around her head! She can also try to chew anything that she feels is in her way. She seems to want to get to the front of the car/van, but still finds it hard to settle even if she is at the front and will continue to bark. She will need help from a new owner to get used to travelling safely and without becoming stressed.
Phoebe is always happy to get cuddles from the vets, but isn’t a fan of things being done to her. She is very bouncy and wriggly to try and avoid being examined and so needed sedating for a blood draw. She is very bouncy in the waiting room, but does mainly ignore other dogs. Phoebe would benefit from ‘fun’ trips to the vets to help her become more comfortable for future visits.
Phoebe is in good health and all her blood tests came back completely normal. She is currently in season, so will need to be spayed in around 2-3 months’ time and SSC will cover the costs of this. She also has a very small mammary lump that their vets have advised would be best to be removed when spayed – again, SSC will cover the costs of this. Phoebe is microchipped and has started her vaccinations.
