31/07/2024 – Prince has a new home lined up!

Adorable Prince is an 8-year-old Poodle, weighing approximately 8 kilos, who is currently being fostered in a loving, adult family home in Gloucestershire. He shares his space with other dogs, visiting dogs and a cat. You can watch lovely videos of him here.
Prince came into the care of Starfish Dog Rescue from a breeding kennel and arrived in poor condition. He has since undergone extensive dental work, resulting in the removal of all his teeth due to a severe infection. Additionally, he has been treated for ear mites and is slowly regaining his health and although he remains underweight, this being worked on.
This gentle, worried little man has an immense capacity for love. From the moment he arrived, it was clear all he wanted was to be your friend. He looks into your eyes as if seeking reassurance that he will finally be okay. Prince gets along well with the other dogs and completely ignores the cat. He is a truly lovely little soul who, once he gains his confidence, will be an absolute joy. There is no malice in him at all. He travels well, is house-trained (though it’s best to remind him to go out), and has even started to take himself out for a wee.
During his first week, Prince was anxious and didn’t want to be left alone. He has since become more relaxed in the house, though he still likes to know where you are. Initially, he struggled to sleep alone, so he now happily curls up beside his carers at night without any problem.
Prince is now catching up on much-needed rest and is on a regimen of four small meals a day, which is helping him regain his strength and start to bloom. He has begun to enjoy short walks with other dogs. Although he sticks close by rather than exploring, he gains a bit more confidence with each outing.
Prince would benefit from having other dogs around, as he might not thrive as an only dog. It’s only a matter of time before he starts playing with dogs, and it would be wonderful for him to have a confident canine friend to help him learn to live his best life.
Prince has been neutered, started his vaccinations, and he has been treated for fleas and worms. He is just finishing a course of antibiotics for his mouth and receiving treatment for ear mites.
