Irresistible Samantha is a 10-year-old Poodle/Dachshund Cross weighing approximately 6 kilos. Currently, she is being fostered in a loving, adult home in Devon, where she is surrounded by other dogs and occasionally visiting grandchildren. She needs a home with the right set-up and experience to understand her and help her blossom into a happy, loved and contented girl.
Samantha is a dear little soul came into the care of Starfish Dog Rescue from a breeder, having endured years of neglect. She has been through so much, yet her spirit remains unbroken. Samantha is a very gentle and lovely girl with a big heart, deeply worried that it might be broken again.
Samantha’s story is truly heart-wrenching. She is a beautiful soul who melts your heart with her desperate need for love and approval. It’s evident that she has the biggest of hearts, having been deprived of affection for so long, yet she likely experienced love at some point and clings to the hope that everything will be okay now. Samantha will never leave your side, even during walks, seeking constant reassurance. You can watch some sweet videos of Samantha here.
In her foster home, Samantha lives with other dogs but shows little interest in them. She is patient with the resident puppy but finds him overwhelming. What Samantha truly needs is a special person who can offer her the dedicated companionship she craves. Ideally, if there is no other dog in the home, her new human should be around most of the time. She sleeps peacefully at night with the puppy and is house-trained.
Samantha has been spayed and has had all her teeth removed, which causes her tongue to hang out. This was not the end of her dental woes, as an oronasal fistula, an infection-caused hole from the gum to the nasal cavity, had developed. Fortunately, the vet performed surgery to correct this, discovering and repairing another small fistula on the opposite side. Samantha is also being treated for severe ear mites and has started a new course of vaccinations. Despite her rough past, no other health issues were noted, and she is expected to make a full recovery.
